How is Low Back Clinic different from traditional physical therapy?
Most physical therapy clinics schedule patients for frequent visits over several weeks or months. At Low Back Clinic, we start with a comprehensive 3-hour one-on-one session to thoroughly assess your condition, identify the root cause of your symptoms, and create a detailed, personalized recovery plan. This approach helps you make meaningful progress and achieve your goals without relying on weekly appointments. Follow-up visits are scheduled only as needed, typically in 4–6 weeks.
What happens during the 3-hour initial session?
During your initial session, we’ll take a detailed history of your symptoms, aggravating factors, daily activities, and previous treatments. We then perform a comprehensive assessment based on the McGill Method to identify the specific movements, postures, and loads that trigger your pain, as well as the factors that contribute to its persistence.
Using this information, we’ll identify your unique pain triggers, movement patterns, and injury mechanisms. You’ll receive a detailed, personalized recovery plan that includes pain-relieving strategies, movement modifications, spine-sparing techniques, and a customized exercise program designed to help you build resilience and return to the activities you enjoy.
You’ll leave with a clear understanding of why your pain occurs, what activities and movements to avoid, what to do instead, and a step-by-step plan to guide your recovery.
What is included in the recovery plan?
Your recovery plan is tailored to your specific condition, goals, and pain triggers identified during the assessment. Depending on your needs, it may include spine-sparing movement strategies, activity modifications, pain-relieving techniques, walking prescriptions, personalized exercises, and guidance on progressing safely back to work, exercise, sports, and daily activities.
You’ll also learn which movements, postures, and loading patterns may be contributing to your symptoms, what to avoid, and what to do instead. Our goal is to provide you with a clear, practical roadmap that helps you make meaningful progress independently rather than relying on ongoing treatment sessions.
How many visits will I need?
Every person and condition is different. Most follow-ups occur approximately 4–6 weeks after the initial assessment.
Our goal is not to keep you coming in for frequent treatment sessions, but to give you the tools to manage your condition independently.
What if I have questions after the initial evaluation?
Our support continues after your initial evaluation. We provide ongoing guidance as you work through your recovery plan, and you can reach out with questions at any time.
Support is available through multiple channels, including written communication, phone calls, and video check-ins when needed. This allows us to clarify your plan, adjust recommendations, and help you navigate any challenges that come up as you apply the strategies in daily life.
Our goal is to make sure you feel confident and supported throughout your recovery, not just during the in-person session.
I’ve had back pain for years. Can you still help?
Many of our clients have been dealing with back pain for months or even years before finding us. In many cases, they have already tried traditional physical therapy, chiropractic care, injections, medications, or other treatments without achieving lasting relief.
Chronic pain does not necessarily mean permanent damage. Using the McGill Method, we work to identify the specific movements, postures, and loading patterns that continue to trigger your symptoms and prevent recovery. By addressing these underlying factors and developing a personalized spine-sparing strategy, many clients are able to reduce pain, improve function, and return to activities they thought they had to give up.
Every situation is unique, but our goal is to help you better understand your pain, regain confidence in your movement, and develop a clear plan for moving forward.
What if I’m not sure whether your approach is right for me?
We offer a complimentary 20-minute video consultation where we can discuss your situation, answer your questions, and help determine whether our approach is a good fit for your needs.
How do I get started?
The first step is scheduling a complimentary 20-minute video consultation. If we’re a good fit, we’ll help you schedule your comprehensive initial evaluation and begin building your personalized recovery plan.
Do I need a referral?
No. In Texas, you can typically see a physical therapist directly without a physician referral. If your situation requires collaboration with another healthcare provider, we’ll discuss the best next steps.
Do you accept insurance?
We are a cash-based clinic and do not bill insurance directly. This allows us to provide fully individualized care without the limitations, restrictions, and visit requirements often associated with insurance-based physical therapy.
However, we can provide a superbill upon request that you may submit to your insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement, depending on your plan.
